Which supermarket is the cheapest place to buy your Christmas dinner from in 2021?
As Christmas day is just around the corner, households across the country are starting to think about their Christmas dinner preparations.
With many Brits wanting to stick to a budget this Christmas, we’ve carried out research into which leading supermarket offers the cheapest turkey dinner.
Our Consumer Finance Experts recorded the prices of all key Christmas dinner ingredients. We included the following items in our costings:
- A whole turkey (medium)
- Pigs in blankets
- Roast potatoes
- Carrots
- Brussel sprouts
- Red cabbage
- Gravy granules
- Stuffing
- Cranberry sauce
We ranked the supermarkets in terms of their value for money, with one being ranked as the cheapest and nine as the most expensive.
Our research has revealed that Aldi is the best supermarket to shop at this year if you’re seeking the ultimate Christmas dinner without the hefty price tag.

At just over £20 a head, this is half the price of M&S’ offering and it dwarfs the £50 you’d spend if you were shopping at the Co-op!

Methodology:
Price of turkey was calculated between 3.8-4.8kg - enough to feed 8-10 guests. All turkeys used were whole turkeys classified as 'medium' by each retailer. Prices of vegetables have been calculated based on a price per kilogram basis to ensure uniformity.
